Oil land
Since its discovery in 2006, the oil under Lake Albert in Uganda has been the subject of much interest. It is estimated that 2.2 billion barrels could be recovered from this new vein. The French company TotalEnergies will have the chance to exploit the majority (62%) in association with the Chinese firm CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) and the Ugandan and Tanzanian national oil companies. The project: 400 oil wells and the longest heated pipeline in the world with a length of 1443 km (the distance between Paris and Rome) crossing more than 400 villages and natural reserves in Uganda and Tanzania. Its name is EACOP (East African Crude Oil Pipeline).
