Emeric Fohlen is a French documentary photographer born in 1985.
After studying communication and journalism in Paris, Emeric moved to China where he made his first reports for the press between 2011 and 2012. Back in France, he covers French and international news for the Abaca press agency (French and Tunisian presidential elections, Maïdan uprising in Ukraine, social situation of Roma camps in Paris...). He became independent in 2014 to carry out more personal and long-term projects. He is particularly interested in questions of identity and environmental issues.
For the past 3 years, Emeric has been working on the relationship between humans and the forest. In Landes, he deals with the identity of a territory, shaped by the largest artificial forest in Europe, with all its social and ecological consequences. The questioning of identity is also the common thread of the project Ribeirinhos, which describes a traditional people in the Brazilian Amazon whose harmonious relationship with nature is now being undermined. Winner of the Brouillon d'un rêve grant from SCAM, he will begin a new long-term photographic project on the situation of forests in Ireland in 2023.
At the same time, he continues his regular collaborations with the national and international press on various subjects such as the role of youth in the political changes in Tunisia and Morocco, the situation of Christians in Pakistan and the civil war in the Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
